Intent Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve (MANERR) Logo
Our intention was to present the client with a logo that would be a starting point for the reserve's branding, be easily and inexpensively reproduced, yet look professional no mattr which materials it would be used on. The result was the use of simple lines and one color. Also, in the future, individual components of the logo could be used separately as abstract watermarks or connecting pieces on the website.
Process: Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve (MANERR) Logo
After our two day visit to Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve, my team began to generate ideas for its new identity. In preliminary sketches, we used photography, watercolors, and freehand drawings depicting the experience of the location. For the first part of the process, our team worked individually. Once we had a sufficient amount of sketches, we came together and consolidated them into four directions: convergence, imagery, color, and modularity.
After review of the four categories, the client selected one that was further developed and formalized. The final logo merges all four directions with the main theme being modularity. The three block configuration and the line drawings create a visual continuum depicting the diversity of the estuarine land, air, and marine life. The name can be placed on the right side of the logo and be presented as an acronym or as full text.
